Fire at Apartment Complex Near Everett Forces 15 Residents to Evacuate

A fire on the fourth floor of the HighGrove apartment complex south of Everett on Saturday evening forced 15 residents to temporarily leave their apartments. The fire broke out in an exterior corridor at about 10:45 p.m. and did not spread into the apartments. A mother and child were trapped on a rear balcony, but firefighters safely brought them out after extinguishing the blaze. No one was injured. Residents could not return because of smoke and water damage. They received assistance from the Support 7 charity and the American Red Cross’s Northwest Region. The Snohomish County fire marshal is investigating the cause of the fire.
