Dinorah Figuera, a representative of Venezuela’s 2015 National Assembly, published a timetable for renewing the country’s Supreme Court (TSJ). The selection process for new judges, which organizers say is intended to strengthen judicial independence and civil and political safeguards, is taking place as part of political negotiations to restore the functioning of state institutions.
Applications will be accepted from October 28 to November 11. From November 5 to 11, a commission will review candidates’ qualifications and approve evaluation criteria. A preliminary list will be published on November 12. Citizens will have until November 27 to file objections, while candidates will be interviewed. The review of objections will begin on December 5, and the Civil Power Council will review the documents on December 8–10. The process is expected to conclude on December 11, 2026, when the selected candidates will be presented to parliament for formal appointment as Supreme Court judges.
